Bean, the new 21-year-old retro pop singer with a fresh sound and an old Hollywood feel (www.beanmusic.com), premiered her single “Cops and Robbers” on Tuesday, September 25th through a partnership with music and entertainment network Akoo as the first artist as part of their Emerging Artist Showcase. The partnership is a milestone in the young musician’s career, representing the first strategic alliance that Bean has formed with a brand or network.
Bean’s single “Cops and Robbers” is also available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.com. The song, which Bean wrote, tells the story of young love and heartbreak and is also featured in a music video which was recently shot and produced in Dallas at Wild About Harry’s, the city’s iconic frozen custard shop.
“Cops and Robbers” has already been in rotation on iHeart Radio. Although her first single is just being released, teen.com wrote that Bean is “basically everything we look for in a new artist…that totally reminds us of a mix between Adele and Amy Winehouse.”
Through Akoo’s Emerging Artist Showcase, Bean’s all-new video for “Cops and Robbers” will be seen on Akoo’s network across 190 locations on nearly 2,000 screens and viewed by an average 46 million viewers each month at premier shopping malls and universities across the U.S. Custom vignettes will also air on the network throughout the month of October.
In addition, Akoo is supporting Bean’s release with a series of promotions via its consumer social and mobile touchpoints including Facebook, Twitter, text-to-win contests and more.
“Releasing my first single on Akoo is the beginning of a giant dream for me,” Bean said. “I’ve loved music since I was five years old and the opportunity to share my music with so many people is an exciting moment in my career.”
Although pursued by major record labels, Adam Mehl, co-president of The Family Management, Bean’s management company, chose to partner with Akoo due to the company’s success with its flagship digital network offering broad exposure to national audiences and a demographic that is a match for Bean’s music.
“An artist like Bean has many opportunities to launch a career, but we chose to partner with Akoo because of their incredible audience reach, their technological leadership and because, via social and mobile platforms, they have a unique connection with their audience that closely aligns with the relationship Bean has with her fans,” said Mehl.
“We’re excited to feature Bean as the first musician in our Emerging Artist Showcase. This innovative new program will introduce new amazing artists to Akoo’s massive audience with a combination of media, social and mobile interactions that appeal to today’s young fans,” said Niko Drakoulis, Founder and CEO, Akoo.
Born Noelle Bean on August 26, 1991, she was raised in Nashville and, for the past five years, she has made her home in in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Bean writes her own music, personally describing it as “mainstream pop with a bit of the old 50s and 60s retro vibe.”
Although Bean is just 21 years old, she has gone through a lot in her life and through her songs Bean aims to connect with fans that are living the joys, sorrows and dreams that everyone faces. Bean is especially passionate about empowering young people to embrace who they are, find their inner-confidence, and reach their full-potential which she does through her song-writing and her connections with her fan community.
In December 2011, Bean recorded her first five songs, an additional two in March 2012, and finished her first album with four more songs in May 2012. “Cops and Robbers” marks the first single off the self-titled album Bean. To date, Bean has posted songs on YouTube with a developing audience demographic in the tween and teen age group with additional growing popularity among 18 to 28-year-olds and college students.
Bean has performed in front of enthusiastic crowds in New York including a concert with Hot Chelle Rae and Megan & Liz at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill and two “standing room only” shows at The Living Room, the city’s premier live performance showcase venue. She has also performed at the House of Blues in both Dallas and Chicago; an FC Dallas professional soccer game in north Texas; and internationally at a May 2012 concert at the Monaco Grand Prix where she sang in front of Prince Albert of Monaco.
She has created a look that perfectly embodies her retro pop musical style, channeling the fashions of Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe, topped with cascading blonde curls, mascaraed eyes and bright red lips. The look is uniquely Bean.
“You only live once and I get to do what I love,” Bean said in a recent interview. “I hope the world loves my music as much as I do writing it.”
