Second Language's Vertical Integration

Newly-released on self-proclaimed ‘boutique’ label, Second Language, is a second multi-artist compilation (following on from the Music And Migration collection released earlier this year), entitled Vertical Integration.

Currently en route to existing 2L subscribers and available direct from the label (with limited quantities likely to become available via Rough Trade and Norman Records), the loosely-themed 17-track CD collects new exclusives from post-folk heroes Tunng, Björk-collaborator Ólöf Arnalds, Ellis Island Sound’s Pete Astor, Piano Magic sibling outfit Klima, Isan’s Robin Saville, latter-day Vashti Bunyan sideman Gareth Dickson, Second Language co-founders Martin Holm and Glen Johnson (working under Holm’s The Home Current alias)… and ten others.

Uniquely-packaged – as is the 2L way – within a deluxe screen-printed A5 fanzine, featuring interviews with all 17 contributors, this is another highly-collectible release from the label that is bound to follow preceding album-length affairs from Textile Ranch, Dollboy, Ghostwriter and Piano Magic into the connoisseur-echelons of eBay.

Full tracklisting runs as follows:

1. Tula – “Tula”

2. Pete Astor – “Tree Of Birds”

3. Gareth Dickson – “Once Upon”

4. 30Km Inland – “The Washing Days”

5. Dirk Markham – “Spirit Level (edit)”
